th January 2014 at 10.00 am, representative from GE Life sciences, Ms.Hazel Hor, gave a presentation to the Directors of ASEANAPOL Secretariat on the current technology marketed by GE Life sciences which is the ‘Rapid DNA Analysis’ (RDA).
The potential of this new technology, amongst others are : Immediate DNA profiling of suspects for urgent cases (within 83 minutes) in police stations, Speed and reliability in setting up of national DNA Database, Border Surveillance and Security – Terrorism control, Disaster Victim Identification.
This DNA Scan is manufactured by NetBio and marketed by GE. During the brief presentation, the company representative relayed their interest to partner with ASEANAPOL for the regional forensic institute project and future projects in regards to security concerns in ASEAN.
