The INTERPOL South East Asia Foreign Fighters Project

Project Pacific Operational Working Group Meeting 18 - 20 June 2014, Marco Polo Cebu Plaza Hotel, Cebu City, The Philippines. The Secretariat recently participated in The INTERPOL South East Asia Foreign Fighters Project Operational Working Group on the South East Asia links to Syria nearest and conflict zone in the Middle East and Africa. ACP Mohamad Anil Shah, Director for Police Services and ASP BalaSubramaniam Suppiah, ASP for Plans and Programmes attended this meeting. The main objectives of this Projects is to:















  • Identify challenges involved in addressing the traveled suspected fighters to Syria and other conflict zone
  • identify suspected fighters traveling to conflict zone
  • Identify the Modus Operandi (M.O) used by suspected fighters in crossing borders within and outside South East Asian Region towards the conflict Zones
  • Identify support and Recruitment Groups that facilitate the travel of Individuals to conflict Zones.
  • Monitor the movement of these suspected fighters to and from the Conflict Zones using INTERPOL's Tools, and Services.
The 2nd Working Group is tentatively scheduled to be held at the Jakarta Centre for Laws Enforcement (JCLEC), in Semarang, Jakarta Indonesia on 21 - 23 October 2014.
