Visit by Mr. Harold O’CONNELL, Director for Capacity Building and Training Directorate from INTERPOL, Singapore to ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Kuala Lumpur

On 9 May 2017, the Director for Police Services PSSUPT Ferdinand R P Bartolome and Director for Plans and Programmes ACP Aidah Othman received a courtesy visit by Mr. Harold O’CONNELL, Director for Capacity Building and Training Directorate from INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), Singapore.

During the visit, the Directors of the Secretariat shared a view on how ASEANAPOL works and the way for further development. Mr. Harold O’CONNELL expresses his willingness in sharing information and future collaborations in the field of capacity building. Exchanging views on Capacity Building and Training should be as a joint effort and not as a competition factor among ASEANAPOL and INTERPOL and sharing information on programmes that will be organised in the future. 

Further discussion was pertaining to the need of analyst / expertise on particular issues in the region. Other matters that been discussed was regarding Border Management which is to initiate on-line information sharing and collaboration on donors for benefits of both.
