On 16 January 2018, ASEANAPOL Secretariat received a visit from Mr. Yann Le Goff, French Regional Police. He was welcomed by the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Police Colonel Kenechanh Phommachack, Director for Police Services Superintendent Jim Wee, Director for Plans & Programmes Assistant Commissioner of Police, Aidah Othman and Staff. This was a courtesy visit by Mr. Yann Le Goff whose office based in Singapore.
The Executive Director took this opportunity to thank Mr Yann Le Goff for visiting ASEANAPOL Secretariats office beside his tight schedule. At the same time Executive Director explained that the application by French National Police to be an observer been received and circulated to all Member Countries. However it will be a bit longer time to await for the consensus from all the Chiefs of ASEANAPOL. Further illustrated that all the Member Countries prefer the applicant to submit with the future plan and contribution to guide them to make the decision. At the same time Executive Director offered Mr. Yann Le Goff to deliver presentation and showcase the future plans at the upcoming ACPM on 2 – 6 July 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr. Yann Le Goff expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome provided by ASEANAPOL Secretariat. He is very optimistic that French National Police will be accepted as an Observer and having corroboration for the betterment of both ASEANAPOL and French National Police. He explained that currently French National Police having good cooperation and relationship with INTERPOL and working together in the most of the transnational crime and information sharing. At the end of the session, he expressed eagerness to participate in the upcoming ASEANAPOL Contact Person Meeting to share the future plans with the audience.
