With the aim of continuing the framework of cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, an introductory meeting was held on 30th August 2022 between ASEANAPOL Secretariat and the Regional Delegate to Police and Security Forces for South East Asia of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
At the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Talaat A. Dorgham accompanied by his Police & Gendarmarie (PGE) Programme Advisor, Muhammad Farid Abd Rahman were cordially welcomed by the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Pol. Brig. Gen. Zaw Lin Tun, Director for Police Services, Police Senior Superintendent Joni Getamala, Director for Plans and Programmes, Superintendent Tang Yik Tung and fellow officers.
As an introduction, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Talaat A. Dorgham expressed his gratitude to the ASEANAPOL in forging partnership and continuous support rendered to ICRC. Henceforth, ICRC also looking forward to continuing the existing collaboration by focusing the possibilities of potential cooperation in near future especially on the way forward in forensic matters. While congratulating Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Talaat for his appointment, the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat then wishing that this new assignation will pave the way for the close coordination on the matters of common interest particularly in the areas of regional forensic capabilities and leveraging capacity building between both entities / agencies.
The meeting was indeed fruitful in that harmonisers in creating a creative platform for deepen cooperation between both parties in exchanging best practices, establishing networking and smart partnerships in the forthcoming years.
