The Russian Federation Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Mr. Naiyl M. Latypov accompanied by his Second Secretary, Consular Section, Mr. Igor Andreev, made the courtesy visit to the ASEANAPOL Secretariat office on 2nd November 2022. His visit was generously welcomed by the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Police Brigadier General Zaw Lin Tun accompanied by Police Senior Superintendent Joni Getamala, as Director for Police Services, Police Superintendent Tang Yik Tung as Director for Plans and Programmes and fellow officers.
The visit was highlighted by a brief presentation of each other’s organizational mandate and how it could help and assist each other’s goals, objectives and possibly synchronize efforts in the pursuance of respective entities / bodies and was followed by a discussion on area of potential cooperation such as terrorism, syndicated - organized crimes and capacity building training (CBT) initiatives.
H.E. highlighted next year (2023) CBT programs in which one will be conducted in Russia and the other will be in ASEAN Region plus an online workshop. Both parties agreed that the Program in Russia shall preferably be conducted in eastern region where the time difference would be minimal to ASEAN and during the summer time; while program in the ASEAN region, it shall be conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ease of organizing and regional travel. Furthermore, both parties emphasized on the effectiveness and efficiency of the training courses, as well as conducting assessment and capacity building development which is tailored with requirement of AMCs.
On the upcoming training programs offered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation to all AMCs, H.E. also thanked and appreciated for the efforts taken by ASEANAPOL Secretariat such as the online training courses at the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation which are scheduled from 15th to 17th November 2022 (Economic Basis of Counteracting Financing of Terrorism Financing) and from 5th to 9th December 2022 ( Detection and Investigation of Crimes related to the Use of Cryptocurrencies and other Virtual Assets) at the V.Y. Kikot Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The visit was indeed fruitful in harmonizing the future collaboration between both parties and looking forward for a brighter working relationship in the days to come.
