The ASEAN Cybercrime Roadmap Ad-Hoc Working Committee, chaired by Superintendent Moses Loh from the Singapore Police Force and supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs Singapore, seeks to combat cybercrime effectively in the region. Priority areas include asset freezing/seizing and improving response time to online scams and cyber-enabled fraud. One of the committee's objectives is to explore strategies for enhancing the utilization of ASEANAPOL’s e-ADS. Attendees from ASEAN countries, consisting of working-level cybercrime practitioners, experts, and SOMTC Focal Points, convened to deliberate on ways to leverage e-ADS more effectively.
The Electronic ASEANAPOL Database System (EADS) serves as a crucial platform for exchanging criminal information among ASEAN Police Forces. Initiated in 2006, EADS has undergone continuous enhancements to optimize its functionality. Presently, all ASEANAPOL member countries utilize EADS, benefiting from its real-time information sharing capabilities, standardized data exchange format, and facilitation of cross-border collaboration. EADS fosters an e-community within ASEAN, enabling the sharing of best practices, crime trends, alerts, and intelligence related to cybercrime and terrorism. Its advantages include the seamless exchange of information and the promotion of effective cooperation among member countries.
