On September 25, 2024, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat Executive Director, Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Bakri Zainal Abidin, Director for Police Services, and Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc, Director for Plans and Programmes, made a significant working visit to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) located at Camp General Mariano N Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.
The ASEANAPOL delegation was warmly welcomed by PCOL Romeo Ruel R Berango, Acting Chief of Staff of PNPA, along with Division Chiefs and staff. This visit aligned with ASEANAPOL’s strategic focus on enhancing collaboration through the "Exchange of Personnel and Training Programmes among ASEAN Police Forces," one of the 14 core areas of cooperation approved by ASEANAPOL member states. The ASEANAPOL Secretariat sought to explore potential opportunities for a personnel exchange program, aiming to facilitate collaboration between cadets from various ASEAN National Police institutions to strengthen networks and address transnational threats.
Following the productive discussions, the ASEANAPOL Secretariats were given a guided tour of the PNPA’s facilities, where they were introduced to the academy's state-of-the-art infrastructure, specialized training areas, and advanced educational resources. This tour highlighted the academy’s commitment to developing disciplined and competent public safety leaders who can effectively respond to the evolving challenges in law enforcement.
The PNPA’s long-standing emphasis on leadership, integrity, and professional competence provided the ASEANAPOL Secretariats with a clear view of its vital role in training officers for the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). With its holistic cadetship program that combines academic rigor and tactical training, the PNPA remains a cornerstone institution in shaping the future leaders of the public safety sector in the Philippines.
