Malaysia Honors Philippine and Indonesian Police Chiefs with First Class Bravery Award for Advancing Regional Security

On October 30, 2024, at the prestigious National Palace in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat David Martinez Vinluan, attended a formal ceremony where His Majesty, Kebawah Duli Yang Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVII Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Sultan Iskandar, King of Malaysia, presented the distinguished First-Class Police Force Bravery Award (Panglima Gagah Pasukan Police) of the Royal Malaysia Police.
This high honour was conferred upon Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Si, Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the safety and security of Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The award highlights the impactful role these leaders play in bolstering regional security and emphasizes the continued collaboration among ASEAN police forces.
The ceremony underscored the longstanding bond and shared commitment among the member nations of ASEANAPOL, with the Chiefs of the Philippine and Indonesian National Police being honoured not only for their individual achievements but also for their unwavering support to the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP). This award reflects their dedication to strengthening cross-border collaboration in law enforcement, advancing joint operations, and addressing transnational challenges such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorism within the ASEAN region.
The nomination for this prestigious award was put forward by Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain, Inspector General of Police of the Royal Malaysia Police, recognizing the Chiefs of PNP and INP as instrumental allies in promoting stability across Southeast Asia. Their distinguished service has made significant strides in reinforcing the region’s collective security framework. This gesture of appreciation by Malaysia's highest leadership not only honours the Chiefs of PNP and INP but also symbolizes the broader spirit of solidarity among ASEANAPOL member nations, who remain united in the pursuit of peace, safety, and mutual cooperation.
Each Chief's dedication to service and commitment to fostering regional security demonstrates the essence of ASEANAPOL’s vision and mission, as all ASEAN National Police leaders remain committed to a safer, more secure Southeast Asia.
