On December 8, 2024, during the annual Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) Alumni Homecoming at the Glass House Astoria, Regency, Pasonanca, Zamboanga City, Philippines, ASEANAPOL Executive Director David Martinez Vinluan, an alumnus of AdZU's High School Class of 1989 and College Class of 1993, was honored with the Special Award for Public Service. The inspiration message during the event was delivered by Rev. Fr. Guillrey Anthory “Ernald” Andal, SJ, President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

AdZU, founded in 1912, is a premier Jesuit Catholic university and the first Jesuit institution in the region. It is part of the global network of Jesuit universities and is dedicated to fostering holistic development, leadership, and ethical values. The university is guided by the Jesuit principle of "cura personalis" (care for the whole person) and plays a pivotal role in advancing peace and sustainable development in Mindanao, particularly through initiatives in intercultural dialogue and peacebuilding in Western Mindanao. AdZU’s core motto, “Men and women for others, for the greater glory of God,” reflects its mission to form individuals committed to serving the common good with integrity and compassion.

Executive Director Vinluan, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has made significant contributions to law enforcement both domestically and internationally. He is the first PNP officer to serve as Executive Director of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat. His career also includes distinguished service as a UN Peacekeeper under the United Nations flag in New York, Kosovo, and Haiti.
