On December 23, 2024, the Indonesian National Police (INP) convened a virtual meeting with ASEANAPOL Secretariat to discuss preparations for the highly anticipated "ASEANAPOL +7 Forum Meeting" in support of the INTERPOL ASEAN Regional Cooperation (IARC) 2025. The forum, set to be hosted by INP with co-hosting support from the ASEANAPOL Secretariat and the United Arab Emirates Police, underscores ASEANAPOL's
commitment to fostering regional and international collaboration in combating transnational crime. The meeting was led by ASEANAPOL Secretariat Executive Director Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan, who represented the Secretariat from its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The "ASEANAPOL +7 Forum Meeting" is scheduled to take place in Bali, Indonesia, from April 28 to May 2, 2025. It will bring together representatives from all 10 ASEANAPOL Member Countries, along with delegates from Timor Leste, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the United Arab Emirates. To enhance the forum’s effectiveness, subject matter experts from relevant fields will be invited to share their insights, best practices, and lessons learned. The primary focus of the forum is to develop a practical and actionable roadmap for strengthening Mutual Assistance on Criminal Matters, one of ASEANAPOL's core priorities.
The agreed-upon roadmap from this forum will be presented at the regional INTERPOL Meeting in July 2025, serving as a significant contribution to enhancing cross-border collaboration in law enforcement. The virtual preparatory meeting concluded with productive discussions and clear outcomes, setting the stage for further planning. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for January 2025 to finalize details and ensure the success of this critical initiative.
This collaboration exemplifies ASEANAPOL's dedication to addressing shared security challenges through mutual cooperation, capacity building, and strategic partnerships with regional and global stakeholders.
