On March 11, 2025, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat welcomed representatives from Tait Communications—Mr. Patrick Tay, Regional Sales Director, and Ms. Fizal Fizura Fauzi, Head of Business Development based at the New Zealand Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Director of Police Services, Senior Superintendent of Police Huntal Tambunan, under the supervision of Executive Director David Martinez Vinluan, along with officials from the Secretariat, warmly received the delegation at the ASEANAPOL headquarters.

During the visit, Mr. Patrick Tay highlighted that Tait Communications, a New Zealand-based radio communications company founded in 1969, operates across 17 countries and employs more than 700 staff worldwide. The company specializes in multiprotocol technology, enabling multiband portable communications between various security agencies and services within a country. Its vision is to enhance safety and efficiency by redefining the boundaries of critical communications.

Acknowledging the continuous evolution of technology, Tait Communications expressed enthusiasm for its potential to deliver improved outcomes for customers. The company remains committed to developing innovative, customer-focused solutions that address complex communication challenges. Its goal is to remain at the forefront of the industry, providing reliable tools that bring meaningful improvements to organizational operations.

Tait Communications has been developing voice and data radio technology for over 50 years, exporting approximately 95% of its products from its manufacturing base in Christchurch, New Zealand. Its communications solutions have been adopted by organizations such as the New Zealand Police, London bus services, the National Fire Authority, and the Basin Electric Power Cooperative. In addition to its products, the company offers services including communication system design, service delivery, and support for critical situations in public safety, transportation, and utility sectors worldwide.

The company emphasized how its technology could benefit ASEANAPOL Member Countries (AMCs) in various police operations, particularly in ensuring real-time communication and coordination among law enforcement agencies. By enhancing interoperability between different security sectors, Tait Communications' solutions can significantly improve emergency response times, facilitate disaster management efforts, and support crime prevention initiatives. The reliability of their communication systems plays a crucial role in saving lives and protecting properties, especially during crisis situations, large-scale security operations, and cross-border law enforcement efforts.

The visit concluded with productive discussions on potential collaboration. Tait Communications expressed its intent to work more closely with the ASEANAPOL Secretariat in enhancing communication links to address the growing challenges of cross-border crime in the ASEAN region.
