On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Police Senior Superintendent Huntal Tambunan, Director for Police Services of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, under the supervision of Executive Director David Martinez Vinluan, attended the 218th anniversary celebration of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Center, Malaysia. The event was attended by representatives from various PDRM units, as well as officials from foreign embassies.

The celebration began with the arrival of the Honorable Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, alongside the Honorable Dato' Seri Dr. Wan Ismail. This was followed by the singing of the Malaysian National Anthem ‘Negaraku’ and ‘Sang Saka Biru’, a welcome address by the Master of Ceremonies, and the recital of prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance.

A special presentation was also featured before the official speeches commenced. In his address, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian government for its continued support, particularly for the 2025 PDRM budget, which will enable the implementation of key law enforcement programs throughout the year. He also commended PDRM personnel for their dedication and success in solving various criminal cases.

Following this, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim delivered his keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law in Malaysia. He highlighted that justice must be applied fairly and impartially, regardless of social status, rank, or position. Additionally, he addressed the need for legal frameworks to promote interfaith harmony, particularly in resolving disputes related to places of worship, ensuring that such matters are handled within the rule of law without bias toward any majority group.

The celebration concluded with the presentation of awards by the Prime Minister to outstanding PDRM personnel, recognizing their exceptional contributions to law enforcement and national security.

The ASEANAPOL Secretariat expresses its deep gratitude to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for its gracious hospitality and for its unwavering support of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s officers and activities. This collaboration reflects the strong partnership between ASEANAPOL and PDRM in advancing regional law enforcement cooperation and security efforts.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) continues to play a vital role in maintaining national security and unity, especially during key national celebrations such as Hari Malaysia (Malaysia Day). This historic occasion, commemorated every September 16, marks the formation of Malaysia in 1963, bringing together Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore as a united nation.

PDRM has consistently demonstrated its commitment to national pride and security, participating in parades, security operations, and public celebrations. For instance, during the 66th National Day celebrations in 2023, PDRM conducted extensive rehearsals to ensure a seamless and dignified parade, underscoring its unwavering dedication to national unity and public safety.

As Malaysia continues its journey of progress and solidarity, PDRM’s contributions remain crucial in fostering a peaceful and harmonious society, ensuring the protection of its people and the upholding of justice.
