For the period 21st to 28th August 2021, the 6th Executive Director DAC Jim Wee made a visit to UAE Ministry of Interior on the kind invitation from UAE Regional Liaison Officer attached to Singapore, Lt Colonel Dr Majeed Alameri, from UAE Ministry of Interior.
During the visit, ED Jim Wee paid a courtesy call on Major General Dr Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, General Inspector, Interpol Executive Committee Member for Asia, UAE Ministry of I nterior, Inspector General Office on 22nd August 2021.
At the meet up, Maj Gen Dr Ahmed reiterated UAE Ministry of Interior’s commitment in participating as an Observer to ASEANAPOL and he looks forward to implementation of collaboration from UAE Ministry of Interior to ASEANAPOL Member Countries.
ED Jim Wee conveyed the appreciation of UAE Ministry of Interior in the kind invitation for the visit and he shared that ASEANAPOL Member Countries are looking forward to further collaborate with UAE Ministry of Interior in Policing matters ranging from capacity building, training to Operations.
During the days in UAE, ED Jim Wee also had the opportunities to meet with:
• Director of International Affairs Bureau from Ministry of Interior, Ms Dana Humaid;
• General Director of Competency Development, Ministry of Interior, Colonel Omar Ebrahim Al-Ali;
• BG Nasser Al Kabbi, Director of Happiness at the Ministry of Interior.
The meetings with the various officials were fruitful and forthcoming with UAE Ministry of Interior reiterating their commitment towards support ASEANAPOL Member Countries in various aspect of Policing ranging from Capacity building to Training. Few good suggestions of collaboration were shared such as three years Police Training in Bachelor Degree at UAE Police College, On-line short training program from Ministry of Interior, technology knowledge transfer and sharing towards future Policing.
ED Jim Wee reiterated that Secretariat looks forward to deepen the collaboration and will work towards the implementable project proposals through coordination with Lt Col Dr Majeed.
ED Jim Wee concluded his visit to UAE by lastly visiting to GCCPOL and met with Colonel Mubarak Saeed Alkhyeli, Director GCCPOL. Both reaffirmed the collaboration and support to each other’s’ office. The meet up was also fruitful with good suggested proposal on further enhancing the future communication between the Emirates and ASEANAPOL Member Countries.
