ASEANAPOL Facilitates Study Visit for Member Countries to Korea’s National Counter Scam Bureau
23 October 2026
Seoul, Republic of Korea | 23 October 2026
On the sidelines of the 1st Annual Forum of the International Investigative Cooperation Alliance (IICA), the ASEANAPOL Secretariat facilitated a study visit to Korea’s National Counter Scam Bureau following the Forum’s morning programme.
The visit brought together senior police representatives and their teams from four ASEANAPOL Member Countries — Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand — who were attending the Forum in Korea.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Director General of the National Counter Scam Bureau and his team, who provided an operational briefing and guided participants on a tour of the Bureau’s facilities, sharing Korea’s approaches to combating transnational scam crime.
The visit offered an opportunity to exchange experiences, learn from Korea’s operational practices, and explore ways to strengthen national anti-scam responses, including among countries with established anti-scam centres and mechanisms.
This initial exchange also provided a foundation for exploring a future formal study visit involving all ASEANAPOL Member Countries.
The Royal Thai Police (RTP) Liaison Officer to the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) coordinated local transportation and hospitality arrangements for the visit.
The ASEANAPOL Secretariat extends its sincere appreciation to the Director General and his team for their generous hospitality and valuable operational insights, to the RTP Liaison Officer for their assistance, and to the participating delegations for their cooperation and support.
