Strengthening Regional Action Against Maritime Crime
11 September 2026
The ASEANAPOL Secretariat participated in the EADS Maritime Crime Database Coordination Meeting, bringing together representatives from ASEAN police agencies, UNODC, the Royal Thai Police and regional partners to strengthen cooperation in tackling maritime crime.
The meeting highlighted the strategic role of the EADS Maritime Crime Database in enhancing real-time information sharing, cross-border case correlation and regional law enforcement cooperation.
Participants explored the use of EADS to connect critical information on vessels, persons, cargo, companies and criminal networks, enabling participating agencies to identify potential links across jurisdictions and strengthen investigative cooperation.
A key focus was the upcoming scenario-based tabletop exercise, which will provide participating agencies with practical experience in using EADS to exchange information, correlate intelligence and develop a common operational picture.
The meeting also laid the foundation for a progressive cooperation model — from EADS familiarisation and controlled information sharing, to joint investigations and, where appropriate, coordinated operational action.
Connected agencies. Shared information. Stronger regional action.
Through continued collaboration, ASEANAPOL and its regional partners remain committed to strengthening collective efforts against maritime crime and transnational criminal networks.
