ASEANAPOL Secretariat Participates in New Zealand-Led Capacity Building Training on Transnational Organized Crime

Port Dickson, Malaysia, 15 June 2026 – The ASEANAPOL Secretariat participated in the Capacity Building Training on Transnational Serious and Organized Crime organized by the New Zealand High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and held at Avillion Hotel, Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

Representing the Secretariat, Police Senior Superintendent Huntal Tambunan, Director of Police Services, joined law enforcement and immigration representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and the Philippines to discuss emerging regional security challenges and strengthen cooperation against transnational crime.

The training covered key issues including cyber-enabled fraud, drug trafficking, human trafficking, intelligence sharing, and multi-agency coordination. Participants also exchanged best practices on intelligence-led policing and regional cooperation mechanisms.

During the program, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat delivered a presentation highlighting ASEANAPOL's role in facilitating police-to-police cooperation across Southeast Asia and supporting capacity-building initiatives with Dialogue Partners. The discussion also emphasized the importance of ASEANAPOL tools and platforms in enhancing information sharing and operational collaboration among Member Countries.

The participation reflects ASEANAPOL's continued commitment to strengthening regional law enforcement capabilities and fostering partnerships that contribute to a safer and more secure ASEAN region.
